Thank you very very much for showing up for me and for these kind words and exclamation points!!! You'll never know how much your visit means to me. I also thank Smokey for the two paws up. (LOL) I will be quick to point out that you have been actively involved in SDM&M almost from the start and have made immeasurable contributions to its success over the years. Thank you very much for all you have done for me, for this blog and for the Shady Dell! Have a wonderful weekend, dear friend Toni!

Life is tough for many of us but music and laughter always help us through those times. I'm very happy to have steadfast friends like you in my corner. Thank you very much for expressing yourself so eloquently today, good buddy, and have a great weekend!

I've learned so much and my heart has been opened to new music that I didn't think I would like but now appreciate. You have been such a great friend to me. We met when I had four followers and you had 12. God bless and keep rockin'.

    1. Hi, Belle! Thank you very much for coming over for a visit on my 4th anniversary. It wouldn't have seemed complete without you. You are one of my oldest blog friends and one of the best and closest friends I have had in my entire life. In the fall of 2010, as you might recall, I was planning to "retire" this blog by the end of the year and go strictly into reruns. Suddenly, out of the blue, wonderful people like you and Thisisme and Odie started following me and I was compelled to keep producing fresh posts. Just think of all that's happened since 2010: followers topping 100; the addition of dozens of rare photos of the Dell back through history, the discovery that the Dell is 100 years old and that the Spangler and Brown families lived there before the Ettlines; Margaret Schneider, the oldest living Dell rat; the Dell renovation and open house; the Soul Clinic series and so much more. Thank you very much for being with me through all of it, dear Belle! I hope you are enjoying your summer. Please take good care of yourself, my special friend!

It's hard to comprehend that the people of your state are dealing with another mass shooting. I am very sorry! I greatly appreciate you coming by to pledge your support. It means a lot to me, dear friend. Hug those fur babies for me!

    2. Hello there!! I am doing great! I did move the blog, FYI - I copied you on the email, but wanted to make sure you got it! If not, the new domain is: yourloveishome.blogspot.com.
The tragedy here was horrible, only about 15 minutes from my house!
I'll always be a supporter of your blog! Keep it up!

I didn't know that evil deed took place so close to your home. It must have you reeling. I am truly sorry for you, your family and your community. It can happen anywhere. The stories surrounding the victims and survivors are truly incredible. Take care and stay safe.

Imagine... An election without politics! Thanks Tom, and congratulations - for four years of sharing your extensive knowledge of music and musicians, your contagious humor and the long hours and hard work to bring it all together for us. That's quite a "campaign" without mudslinging, attack ads and endless debate. Our candidates could take a few lessons from you. No red vs. blue, no hanging chads - the people have spoken. It's a landslide!

    1. Hi, Kathleen! Don't knock the Hanging Chads. I saw them in concert at an ale house in the Poconos! (LOL) Seriously, thank you very much for your generous comments, dear friend. (I think you speak for the vast silent majority of Americans.) If I began to describe how much you and your dear mother have contributed to Shady Dell Music & Memories it would turn into an all day filibuster. Good music, laughter and friendship transcend politics, race and religion, and that's why SDM&M continues to be a labor of love. Thank you again, my dear friend. Give my love to your mother and have a safe and happy weekend!

    1. Hi, Marsha! I'm so glad to see you here and to know you're following me. I am honored! I'll tell you this. For the first two-and-a-half years my blog had less than 5 followers and I was ready to close up shop. Suddenly, almost overnight, the number swelled exponentially and I found myself with a growing audience of people to inform and entertain. It's an awesome responsibility and I don't take it lightly. At the same time, it's tremendously rewarding. "Weeks turn into years how quick they pass" and you will arrive at the four year mark before you know it. Thank you very much for coming over to say hello, dear Marsha. Have a safe and happy weekend and please come back again soon!

    1. Hi, Ricko! It's So Sharp of you to come by for an encore visit. Whenever I start to feel like No One Loves Me Anymore I remember the great friends I have found through blogging. Some have come and gone while others remain. No doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. I was just looking through my old emails the other day and found my earliest contacts with you in 2010. At the time an interview with The Soul Clinic was only a pipe dream. I'm so glad we put our minds to it, rolled up our sleeves and together cranked out a quality piece of work. Thank you very much for your friendship and for the kind endorsement offered here today. Take care, Lil D, and say hello to the guys for me!

  16. Gah!!! You had me scared at first Shady! I thought maybe you were thinking of running for president, lol! Happy Anniversary, and, yes, I vote AYE! I did buy a pickup truck from a guy they called 'Cheatin' Charlie', and couldn't keep oil in it...needless to say, I didn't keep the truck very long. So, I might think twice about buying a car from a guy named 'Shady'. I love your blog, you work hard at it and present much great, fun and interesting stuff. Keeps us all coming back. Love your picture-happy 4th!♫

As a music industry veteran you bring a lot to the table and your intelligent and insightful comments add considerably to the dialogue. I'm so glad that you and I became friends this year. I really enjoy our exchanges and I hope you'll stick with me as I begin my second four-year term. Thank you very much, dear Susan, and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  17. Oh no! I can't believe that I'm the last one at the party today :( You had me fooled at the beginning of the post there, because I too thought you were going down the political route!! HAPPY 4TH BLOGAVVERSARY dear Shady. I know you said to Odie that that photo was taken two years ago, but I can't believe how young you look. It must be all that clean living!!! How wonderful that all your friends have turned out to give you their vote for the next four years, and you certainly have MY vote, that's for sure. We all look forward to reading your blog, and also to reading the supportive and encouraging comments that you always post on our posts. I love your sense of humour! How wonderful that our dear friend Belle popped across to see you as well. That must have made you very happy! 1. Hallo, dear Thisisme! There's no need for you to fret. You are only one day late for the party and I already knew in advance that you would be tied up hosting your family this weekend. On the other hand no blogiversary celebration would be complete without you in attendance because you are in the elite group of my dearest friends. It pleases me enormously that you found time visit and I cherish your wonderful comments. Yes, our dear friend Belle also came out of her self imposed exile to join the festivities and I am very grateful to her as well.

In the past you and Belle have posted your childhood pictures on your blogs, so I decided to do the same here. My father was a shutterbug and loved to experiment with trick photography and sight gags like this picture showing me pretending to drink from a contaminated mountain well. It was taken during a family vacation at a rustic cabin in Northern Pennsylvania.

Thisisme, (Diane), I am honored to have known you for these past two years and to have entertained you, made you smile and kept you bopping to my tunes. The greatest thing that happened this year was your return to good health in recent weeks. May you continue to enjoy good health, happiness and prosperity for many years to come. Thank you again, my dear friend, for adding your sweet remarks to my guest book. Have a splendid Sunday with Alfred and the gang!

    2. Shady some day we will look back at these first 4 years and say that was dam good for starters. Like I heard Keith Richards say when asked when will he give it up, he said I can"t stop how I all most got it right. There's just to much more to be told about the Dell and the music that we love, it will take many more years to tell. your blog keeps growing and that means more and more people want to hear your stories. Just keep up the great work and Dell Rats old and new will keep comeing back. a Dell Rat All Ways Greg

    3. Hi, Greg! Your visit and comments mean a great deal to me, good buddy. It's guys like you, the original members of the rat pack, who inspired me to begin this journey in the first place. As I mentioned in another reply I had no way of knowing when this started that people like you, Dell Rat Jerre, Dell Rat Ron, Toni Deroche, Dave Bupp, The Soul Clinic, Phil Spangler, Kathleen Mae Schneider, Margaret Elizabeth Brown Schneider and all of these wonderful friends and followers would come into my life and make the blog what it is today. Thank you for your continued friendship and support, Greg! Together, we're exploring the past, hunting for memories and bringing them back alive! I hope you have a terrific week ahead, my friend!
